For too many years, addiction and poor mental health have robbed me of my soul, spirit, and connection with myself and others. I’ve never been great at opening up, but music, a long time friend, has pulled me out of some pretty dark and lonely corners. It’s through this portal that I’m ready to share my story; one of hope, health, recovery and redemption; With the optimism that the fabric of my winding tale might weave its way into the betterment of someone elses.
An admitted life long crusade, I’ve been spending alot of time and energy focusing on self care, love, and improvement. I’m thrilled to say that for the first time in ages, I’m feeling wide awake - with the sense of peace, freedom, humility and self that everyone deserves. Beyond the frutration, anger, fear, shame, stress, anxiety, and doubt…we’re all worthy of joy and happiness.
On a particularily tough day I was making a list of some of the things that I’m thankful for. To no surprise, the list quickly developed itself into a song; one that’s extremely close to my heart and very being.
I hope you enjoy this first installment of my story.
This is “The Trees”.

Another grey sky morning, same old shade of blue, rollin’ over’s just about the best that I can do,
Hidin’ under cover, curled up in a ball, when a ray of light illuminates a note that’s taped against my wall, and it said…
Thank you for my fingers, thank you for my toes, thank you for these arms, and all the love they’ve yet to hold ,
Thank you for my two hands, thank you for my feet, thank your for these legs that walk the forest as they please, thank you for the trees… Lonesome in a dark room, nothin much to do, I hear the world outside, but blackened blinds take up my view,
Far apart and broken, feeling every scar, through the corner of a window, I see the shimmer of a star, and I said…
Thank you for the moonlight, thank you for the rain, thank you for the sun that turns the long grass green again,
Thank u for the morning, thank you for the breeze, thank you for the changing of the colours of the leaves, Thank you for the trees…
Thank you for this moment.
Thank you for my family, thank you for my world,
Thank you for my dogs, and little boys and little girls,
Thank you for tomorrow, another day to seize,
Thank you for the wood that built this home and all our dreams,
Thank you for the trees…Thanks for the trees…
